hypebae.com
hypebae.com started life as an April Fools' joke on hypebeast.com. Two years later it became a real site, and the home for women's streetwear, fashion and beauty.
It was announced on hypebeast.com as a dating app for sneakers — the sort of thing that reads as a gag until someone quietly goes and builds it. That post is still the origin story, and worth reading next to the site it became.
What it grew into is a proper destination for women's contemporary streetwear and fashion, with a heavy emphasis on the creatives and voices behind the work rather than just the product itself.
Underneath it runs Symfony for the PHP front end, Bootstrap for the HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and WordPress as the CMS — the same stack as hypebeast.com.
